Holy Trinity Thrift Shop

One measure of a church is its presence in the world measured not only in the spreading of the gospel, but in how we are able to impact our neighbors lives in a meaningful way on a daily basis.  Holy Trinity reaches out in many ways, but one of our most visible and enduring outreach efforts is our thrift shop.  While to many it may appear as simple a source of income for the church, it's so much more.  Originally situated in downtown Melbourne, Holy Trinity Thrift Shop ministered to the needy in the community by offering lower priced, or sometimes free, alternatives for what people needed.  The thrift shop was also able to provide the dignity of being able to have or give something nice to the less fortunate of our community.  As downtown Melbourne changed so did our thrift shop.  Unfortunately, our downtown location was becoming untenable as the area became busier and parking became scarce.  As these things happened, God provided, and the church had the opportunity to purchase a neighboring property in 2018 While our ability to serve the most needy was a concern moving from downtown, it was clear that we had to move.  The church renovated the building and opened the new shop.  It truly has been a renaissance for the shop. Not only has our outreach survived, it has grown.

The Holy Trinity Thrift Shop provides a multitude of blessings.  In addition to the patrons, the staff get a great sense of fulfillment from the fellowship and ministry that takes place.  Finally, it is a source of funding for the church and the larger community.  The shop has donated to the Holy Trinity youth, Alpha, and the renovation of the kitchen at the church and have also made donations of goods to other non profits in the area, including: Genesis House, The Habitat Restore, Salvation Army, Daily Bread, Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse, Community of Hope, CITA, Everyone’s Counseling Center, St. Stephen’s Way, University Elementary School, Inspire Healthcare, and individuals in the area who are less fortunate or homeless.
